A record-breaking crossing of Loch Ness on Tiwal dinghy!

First stop of the Grand Tour for our Italian friends! Our Captains launched their Tiwal 3 dinghies from the Loch Ness, the famous Scottish lake.

Franco, Manuel and Daniele hail from Monfalcone in north-east Italy. These friends and experienced sailors are behind Grand Tour project, through which they aim to raise awareness of the consequences of global warming.

In 2022, they shone in crewed dinghy regattas. But this year, the members of The Grand Tour have acquired three Tiwal 3 inflatable dinghies. Very easy to transport, these sailboats are ideal for reaching the most difficult sailing spots.

This first leg of the Tour took them to Loch Ness in Scotland. This year, this famous lake has reached its lowest level since 1990. Here, our Italian friends set themselves the goal of setting a new record for crossing the lake from south to north under sail.

A challenge crowned with success: the trio of Tiwal dinghies sailed the 22 miles of the lake in less than 5 hours. A record that will be entered in the Guinness Book of Records 😊.

Next stop: Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable point on the planet!
