CISF adds two Tiwal 3 to its sailing programs
The Conanicut Island Sailing Foundation (CISF), based in Jamestown, Rhode Island, recently expanded its educational fleet by acquiring two Tiwal 3 Club sailboats, which it now uses for its sailing classes.
It was at the 2024 National Sailing Programs Symposium (NSPS) that the CISF team discovered and tested the inflatable Tiwal 3 dinghy. Captivated by its simplicity and educational potential, they quickly added two Tiwals to their fleet to introduce students to sailing. “They absolutely love the Tiwal,” explains Haley. “I think the independence and the confidence that the children feel on the boat is why they love it, because they’re like, “I can take it out, no problem”.
The Tiwals fit naturally into their existing dinghy fleet: “It’s great to have a slightly larger boat that we can fit larger kids on and also adults with a kid on the boat to help teach.”
The Tiwal 3s have also proven very practical for the foundation, which has limited storage space. Now packed away in their bags for the winter, they patiently await the return of spring and their young sailors eager to get back on the water.
